How to disable an unknown tracker

Use these steps if you found this device after receiving an unknown tracker alert, or if you need to stop it from sharing new location reports.

Personal safety

Move somewhere safe before handling the device

If you feel at risk, go to a safe public place and contact local law enforcement or a trusted person. Save screenshots of the alert and map before disabling the tracker if it is safe to do so.

Disable the tracker

  1. 1

    Locate the button

    Locate the button on the side of the accessory.

  2. 25 SEC

    Press and hold

    Press and hold the button for five seconds.

  3. 33 BEEPS

    Listen for confirmation

    You will hear three confirmation beeps.

What happens after disabling

  • The tracker stops sending new location reports to the tracking network.
  • The owner may still be able to see the last location reported before the device was disabled.
  • Powering off does not factory reset the device or remove its existing owner association.

How to re-enable the tracker

Press the right-side button once briefly to wake the device. If it is still associated with an owner, it can resume normal tracking-network operation.

Owner-only removal and factory reset

Factory reset is not required to stop location reporting. To transfer or erase your own device, first remove it from the tracking app. Then press the right-side button three times quickly and press and hold it a fourth time for more than 2 seconds, until the reset cue.

Do not open the enclosure

This device has an internal rechargeable battery. Do not pry it open, crush it, burn it, or expose it to excessive heat. Stop using it if it is damaged, swollen, leaking, or unusually hot.
